Students, who always remain busy in classroom activity and examinations from dawn to dusk, heaved a sigh of relief and enjoyed the traditional cultural shows on the Krishna University campus on Saturday.
Artistes from different places performed mythological plays, janapada nrutyam, Kuchipudi dance, kolatam and burraka and amused the students. The Kala Mandiram on Andhra Jatiya Kalasala echoed with the whistles and claps of the youngsters.
The artistes, including the children, showcased their talent in the Regional Seminar on Telugu Language, Literature, Tradition and Arts, jointly organised by Krishna University and Krishna District Writers Association here on Saturday.

University Vice-Chancellor V. Venkaiah said that the theme of the cultural shows is to enlighten the students on ancient culture and arts, which also coincides with the campaign for World Telugu Conferences, scheduled to be held in Tirupati from December 27.
Jonnagadda Jagan Mohan Rao, an artiste from Sri Ramakrishna Natya Mandali, Machilipatnam, K. Hari Prasad Nataka Kala Samithi artiste K. Ganesh Kumar and V. Yedukondalu performed ‘Sri Krishna Rayabaram’, which attracted one and all.
The ‘Ghirale Kolatam’ performed by Murali Krishna Kolatam Troupe made the audience stick to their seats. Noted kolatam artiste Jogi Shiva Shankar Prasad performed the show along with twenty students of Jawahar Public School, Machilipatnam.

Good response
The Burrakatha explaining the Telugu culture, tradition, festivals received good response from the students and staff. The university officials presented mementos and certificates and felicitated the artistes for their extraordinary performance.
