Speaker Nadendla Manohar has on Tuesday called on the people of this village in Kollipara mandal who safely returned from a pilgrimage to Kedarnath in Uttarakhand.

He enquired about the conditions in which they visited the famous hill shrine and how they could save themselves from the deluge that swept away thousands of pilgrims.

Mr. Manohar said the government was taking necessary steps to rescue the large number of pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh who were stuck in the Himalayan ranges and making arrangements for transporting those who managed to reach safety, to their hometowns from Delhi.

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and top officials of the State government were on the job of bringing back the stranded pilgrims and providing treatment for the pilgrims who were injured and fell sick in the cold climate.

There was no reason to lose hope as help was on its way to the pilgrims, he said.

Tenali RDO S. Sreenivasa Murthy, and DSP Tulasi Ram Prasad were among those present.
