April 09, 2014 01:09 am | Updated May 21, 2016 09:51 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

‘Wake up India… Modi Agaya… Namo Namo …’ the number in pop sensation Smita’s new album was launched amid fanfare here on Tuesday.

She came out with the album in support of BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. The five-and-half-minute song, both in Hindi and Telugu versions, is about the country’s poor progress even after years of Independence. The album also highlights development works taken up in Gujarat.

BJP Seemandhra unit president Kambhampati Hari Babu released the CD and handed the first copy to Monica tea stall owner Mohan Lal. “Smita’s initiative will certainly help the party during elections,” Mr. Babu asserted. Smita said the country could prosper only under Mr. Modi’s able leadership, his exceptional administrative skills and unparalleled vision.

“My visits to Gujarat motivated me to make this album and share facts about its progress with the entire nation,” she explained. While the lyrics are by Anantha Sreeram, music is by Nihal. Sameer Reddy is the director of photography. Audio and video versions of the album can be downloaded free of cost. The Hindi version will be released shortly. BJP State organising secretary Ravindra Raju was present on the occasion.
