Simhachalam temple chariot arrives in Vijayawada

The ‘prachara ratham’ of Simhachalam temple has arrived in the city.

The chariot, carrying the processional deities of the presiding deity Sri Varaha Lakshmi Nrusimha Swamy reached Indrakeeladri on Wednesday.

The chariot was parked at the foothill for the benefit of the devout.

Pujas performed

Simhachalam priests performed puja to the idols.

Sri Durga Malleswara Swamivarla Devasthanam priests Srinivasa Sastry and others welcomed the chariot in a traditional way.

In the evening, the organisers parked the chariot near the Uttaradi Math close to the Ratham Centre. Math manager Kanugovi Vasudevacharya and others offered traditional welcome to the processional deities.

Mr. Sastry said two more chariots, one each from the Annavaram temple and Dwaraka Tirumala will arrive in the city on Thursday.

All the three chariots will leave the city by afternoon to take part in an exhibition of temples being organised in Chennai by the Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad from February 19 to 24, he said.

Kanaka Durga temple chariot will leave the city on February 17. Temple priests K. Prasad, Maruti Yagnanarayana Sarma, K. Pavan Kumar, and Mr. Sastry would accompany the Durga temple chariot.
