Andhra Pradesh Short Film Association (APSFA) general secretary Ramba Prasad on Thursday appealed to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to evince interest in shifting the Telugu film industry from Hyderabad to Amaravati.
Speaking to mediapersons, he said artistes, technicians, poets, photographers, videographers and other professionals from the 13 districts were not getting enough opportunities in the industry, and stressed the need for shifting it to the new State. “In any State, the film industry is established in the State capital,” he said.
“Ninety per cent of the producers belong to Krishna district. If the films are made in our State, we can save on tax as we are presently paying to Telangana Government for the movies,” Mr. Prasad said.

He said the shifting of film industry would provide jobs, and many ancillary trade and industries could flourish.
He said Andhra Pradesh was blessed with several natural resources such as hills, valleys and green plains for the making of films. “The government should also come out with liberal financial assistance for people who wish to build studios in the State,” he said.
