Second SRC will only worsen situation: CPI

‘Political blunders will cost Congress dearly'

The proposal to constitute the second States Re-organisation Commission (SRC) to resolve the Telangana problem is like giving a patient medicine that has already expired, CPI State secretary K. Narayana has said.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said it would have an adverse impact on the situation. “The patient will die if you give medicine that has already expired,” he said.

He said the Congress seemed to be not bothered about the State. The party leaders were only thinking about how to save their own skin.

Wondering if so much time and effort were needed to come out with the proposal to constitute a second SRC, Mr. Narayana said the Congress would pay dearly for the “political blunders” it had committed.

Dengue deaths

He said the main cause behind the dengue deaths was poor sanitation and the State government had to take responsibility for them. He said it was unfortunate that the government was not at the least bothered about the deaths in the State. He said CPI activists, in a novel agitation on November 18, would participate in sanitation activity.

He said CPI was extending its full support to the ‘Chalo Hyderabad' programme of sugarcane farmers. He said the cost of inputs had increased but the government had reduced the MSP from Rs. 2,100 per tonne to Rs. 1,800.
