SCR observes cleanliness week

Officials of the South Central Railway (SCR) are observing ‘Rail Hamsafar Saptaah’ (week-long cleanliness and checking drive) in Vijayawada from May 25 to 31.

As part of the drive, the railway officers are visiting stations and sensitising the passengers and staff on sanitation. Divisional Railway Manager Ashok Kumar visited Eluru railway station and conducted inspection.

The officials will focus on cleanliness on platforms, trains, pantry cars, catering units in the station and conduct surprise checks on ticket-less travellers. Teams will also check the canteens, waiting halls and the bogies in moving trains during the drive.

Rail Hamsafar Saptaah is being observed in Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Bhimavaram, Tadepalligudem, Eluru, Guntur, Tuni, Bapatla, Annavaram and other stations in Vijayawada division. Officers from commercial, signalling, engineering and other wings are participating in the week-long programme, the SCR officials said.
