When it comes to haleem, regional barriers do not matter to Vijayawada’s hospitality fraternity.

A good number of hotel owners here are preparing to bring in expert chefs from Hyderabad to give citizens a taste of the most sought-after dish. As fasting for the holy month of Ramzan will begin from Friday, hoteliers here are busy building haleem bhattis . One eatery has entered into an agreement with Hyderabad’s famous Pista House. “We want to ensure the same taste as is available in Hyderabad,” said Mohammed Abid Karim of Green Bawarchi restaurant, which has invited seven cooks led by a head chef from Hyderabad.

One 300 gm plate of the delicacy will be priced at Rs.150 while a jumbo pack with a 500 ml soft drink bottle will be available for Rs. 225. Confirming this, Pista House proprietor M.A. Majeed said, “We have the same recipe as is popular in Hyderabad. As haleem is a perishable commodity, we prefer to sell it fresh rather than in sealed packs. All the ingredients are being sourced from Hyderabad as well.”

Another hotelier said he was preparing to cater to over 2,000 customers every day.
