“You have made your university and parents proud by achieving the degrees. Once you (students) step into the world, your duty is ‘Satyam Vada, Dharmam Chara (Speak the Truth, Lead Righteous Life)”, Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan told Krishna University students.
At the first-ever convocation of Krishna University here on Sunday, Mr. Narasimhan along with Supreme Court Judge Justice Jasti Chelameswar conferred the first Doctorate in Business Management on D.V. Ramana Murthy, retired lecturer of Hindu College, Machilipatnam.
The guests presented gold medals to Kompella Sobha Deepthi and Rompicherla Udaya Kiran at the convocation.

Addressing the students the Governor said that they were entering a competitive world, which was very rough and tough. He advised them to draw a ‘Lakshman Rekha’ for achieving their goals.
“The Government is made up of you and me, and you are not different from the government”, he said.
Money only does not give happy life, but feel proud to be an Indian, he told them, while referring to them as the proud sons and daughters of India. Asking them to march ahead with confidence, Mr. Narasimhan advised the young graduates and recalled the services of great personalities from this region. He remembered Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramayya, Pingali Venkayya and Mutnuri Krishna Rao, who were the sons of the soil, and stressed the need for maintaining core values. Having quality education is the primary need to serve the society; he opined and said that if there is no quality in education, it is of no use.

Great history
Justice Chelameswar said that Indian education system, with a great history, is lagging behind due to inadequate infrastructure and faculty. The poor development in the country is due to low literacy rate, the Justice observed.
Krishna University Vice-Chancellor Vunnam Venkaiah said that the KRU awarded degrees to 2,112 students of various streams at its first convocation. He spoke about the achievements of the new university. Registrar D. Suryachandra Rao, KRU (Nuzvid) PG Centre Special Officer M.V. Basaveswara Rao, University College Principal Y.K. Sundara Krishna, Journalism faculty member C.M. Vinaya Kumar and others participated.
