Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham president B. Balaram and general secretary Vangala Subba Rao on Friday demanded that the government buy low grade tobacco from farmers.
The traders were rejecting 70 per cent of the bales on different pleas.
The traders were not implementing Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s assurances given to the farmers.

Low-grade tobacco
The Union Minister had said that the low grade tobacco had to be purchased at a price of Rs. 62 to Rs. 67. But, the traders were not coming forward. As much as 32.82 million kg tobacco was lying with the farmers, they said.
