Rich tributes were paid to the former Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajashekara Reddy, on the occasion of his third death anniversary on Sunday. Congress leaders garlanded the statue of the late leader at the Control Room in the city. Speaking on the occasion, they said that Rajasekhara Reddy strived for the uplift of the poor. Many people were benefiting from the welfare schemes introduced by the late leader, they said.

The former Chief Minister, who served the party in various capacities, launched many schemes for the SCs, STs, BCs, minorities, and women. He died in a copter crash when he was on his way to attend ‘Rachabanda’ programme, which was aimed at solving people’s problems at the village level, they recalled.

Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu, MLC Ilapuram Venkaiah, former Minister Devineni Nehru, and City Congress president Pyla Sominaidu were among those who paid homage to Rajasekhara Reddy. At Andhra Ratna Bhavan, leaders paid floral tributes to Rajasekhara Reddy’s portrait.
