Recover tax dues: RDO

February 24, 2012 02:23 pm | Updated 02:23 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Revenue Divisional Officer S. Venkata Rao on Thursday said that an amount of Rs. 80 crore was to be recovered as the non-agricultural land assessment taxes under the Vigilance and Enforcement Department and asked the deputy tahsildar to take appropriate steps for recovery.

Speaking at a revenue meeting at sub-collector's office here, Mr. Rao said as many as 82 cases were identified and the proceedings were given for the recovery as per Revenue Recovery Act. “We have identified five in Vijayawada urban, 14 in Vijayawada rural, 43 in Kankipadu, seven in Penamaluru, and 11 in Ibrahimpatnam.” Mr. Rao said that all the cases would be verified as per Urban Development Authority and revenue records and later recovery procedure would be taken up. “There are some cases which had procured layout plans before 2006. We need to verify.”

He also expressed his anguish over delay in solving petitions filed by the complainants through online and asked the officials to immediately look into the issue. He said the online provision was introduced to help solve the public issues quickly and also let the complainant know the status of his or her petition. He asked the officials to take up 169 online unattended petitions filed through ‘aponline' website immediately. Mr. Rao said the Collector was unhappy over delay in handing over the benefits under ‘Apadbandhava' scheme to the beneficiaries. “Both the revenue and police departments should complete their enquiries swiftly and help the beneficiaries get their due,” he told the deputy tahsildar.
