Rallies mark campaign against child labour

Officials, NGOs explain people about Right to Education Act

Women taking part in a signature campaign against child labour at a programme in Vijayawada on Monday.

As part of the World Day Against Child Labour, officials of various government departments and NGOs, organised a week-long campaign against child labour in the Krishna district.

The officers and the NGO representatives also conducted a special drive, from June 12 to 18, which concluded on Tuesday.

They conducted raids on hotels, mechanic sheds, cinema theatres, industries, restaurants and other establishments and homes in Vijayawada, Gudivada, Nandigama, Jaggaiahpet and other places in the district.

They organised rallies, signature campaigns, debates and workshops and explained on Right to Education Act and the need to eliminate child labour.

Officials of Labour, National Child Labour Project, Women Development and Child Welfare, Revenue, Education, Juvenile Welfare, South Central Railway and other government departments participated.

Representatives of CRAF, Childline, Nava Jeevan Bala Bhavan, Care and Share, SKCV Children’s Trust, World Vision, Brethel Ministries and RIDES took part.
