Railway TTI arrested for misbehaving with woman passenger

A Travelling Ticket Inspector of South Central Railway has been arrested on charges of misbehaving with a woman passenger. The incident took place on Hyderabad-Chennai Express at about mid night on February 15.

The TT, Gangaiah, reported for duty at Guntur on the Chennai Express on February 15. A wait-listed passenger aged 25 years boarded the third AC compartment at Guntur and urged the TT to allot a berth for her. The TT told her to sit in the berth allotted to him.

As the train was nearing Ongole station, the woman passenger got into the toilet and complained to her relatives that the TT had been misbehaving with her. She got down from the train at Ongole and registered a complaint at the Railway Police Station.

Basing on her complaint, a team of railway police reached Chennai on Monday morning and arrested the TTI. He was charged under section 154 (A) and produced before the railway magistrate at Nellore.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of SCR Guntur G. Sriramulu said that the TT was suspended and a departmental enquiry has been ordered against him.

In a related incident, an RPF constable Sk. Mastan Vali was arrested on February 9 after a 41-year-old woman passenger travelling to Hyderabad in Narsapur Express on February 8 complained to the police. He was charged under section 509 of IPC.
