Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) city unit and Prajasakthi Sahiti Samstha jointly kicked off Puchalapalli Sundaraiah birth centenary celebrations on a grand note here on Tuesday.
On the occasion, CPI(M) city secretary Ch. Babu Rao said that Sundaraiah had long ago foreseen the implications of imperialism and globalisation, and gave a call to oppose the imperialist policies.
The people across the globe were up in arms against imperialism. The US, which is propagating that imperialism was only way out, was facing stiff opposition from and agitations by their own people on its policies, he said.

Sundariah set an example to others with his simplicity, and fight against corruption in the country.
Though he served as CPI (M) state secretary, he functioned from the city. The veteran leader practically shown ways to build people agitations, he recalled.
Prajasakthi Assistant Editor S. Venkat Rao said that the capitalism was in doldrums across the world.

The Wall Street agitation pointed out the emptiness of capitalism. Lakhs of people joined hands under aegis of many trade unions to oppose capitalism taking inspiration from Wall Street agitation.
More than 10 crore people participated in bandh organised against the UPA and its globalisation policies.
The developments across the globe cleared illusions in the people on capitalism and globalisation, he added.
CPI(M) state control commission chairman B. R. Tulasi Rao stressed on the need to take forward the ideologies of Sundariah. Prajasakthi Visakhapatnam edition manager Sudhakar released a special issue on Sundaraiah birth centenary celebrations.
A blood donation camp was organised to mark the centenary celebrations.
