Philately exhibition to begin tomorrow in city

The Postal Department will organise a three-day Appex-2014 at Vedika Function Hall at Benz Circle here from July 24.

As many as 400 philatelists from Telagana and Andhra Pradesh will take part in the philately exhibition. The department is expecting that 5,000 students will visit the exhibition from 72 schools. The philatelists will exhibit their collection of stamps.

AP Postal Circle Chief Postmaster General B.V. Sudhakar will inaugurate the exhibition and release the special cover on textile craft on Machilipatnam on first day at 10 a.m. Postmaster General (BD and Mails) K. Sandhya Rani will release a special cover on Lepakshi handicrafts on the same day.

The department will organise various programmes like Phila walk, Phila hunt, Kaun Banega StampPati, and a workshop on July 24.

Post Master General M. Sampath will release a special cover on Wild Life Sanctuary (Mangroves, Coringa) on July 25, while Postmaster General Sharda Sampath will release a special cover on ‘On the Summit of Success’ on July 26.

Quiz for both seniors and juniors, phila walk and tol mol ke bol would be organised on the final day of the Appex.

Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) will participate as chief guest for valedictory function.

Mayor Koneru Sridhar will take part in the function as guest of honour.
