‘Flights to Dubai via Singapore under active consideration’

Krishna Collector B. Lakshmikantham on Monday said that the city was going to have a passport printing facility and visa application centres of the Gulf countries.

Speaking at a press conference here, Mr. Lakshmikantham said that so far people of the district were dependent on the Regional Passport Office in Visakhapatnam to get passports. “Once we get the passport printing facility here we can get passports printed and delivered quickly. Also, we are going to get visa centres of the Gulf countries. People travelling to the Gulf will be spared the trouble of visiting other States to get visas,” he said.

The proposal for international flights from Vijayawada to Dubai via Singapore was under active consideration and Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu had given impetus to the plans, he said.
