All political parties should give Kapus seats in proportion to their population and the State Government should include them in the BC list, said leaders of the ‘Ikya Kapunadu’ here on Sunday.
They made the demand as a prelude to a meeting of kapus being held in the city on July 10 to celebrate the silver jubilee of the landmark Kapunadu conference and the centenary of the first Kapu unity conference held in Nellore.
Ikya Kapunadu meeting reception committee president Galla Subramanyam and coordinator Akula Srinivas Kumar said the meeting to be held at the Tummallapalli Kalakshetram here on Wednesday was a prelude to the Maha Kapunadu going to be held later. Under the leadership of Ramachandrapuram MLA Thota Trimurthulu 72 Kapu associations have been brought together on to one platform. Mr Srinivas Kumar said Kapu leaders from all political parties had been invited to the meeting to decide the future of the clan. Ministers Thota Narasimham, Vatti Vasantha Kumar, C.Ramachandraiah, and Ganta Srinivasa Rao were invited for the meeting and all of them had given their consent. Other important Kapu community leaders like Mandali Buddha Prasad, Kanchi Rama Rao and Pantham Venkateswara Rao, MLAs Kothapalli Subbarayyadu, Pantham Gandhimohan, Paratha Chitti Babu, Vanga Geetha Viswanath, Kurasala Kannababu, Rauthu Surya Prakash Rao, Bandaru Satyananda Rao, Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao, Chintalapudi Venkataramanaiah, Panchakarla Ramesh and others have given their consent to attend the meeting. The son of Kapunadu founder and former MLA Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga Rao, Radhakrishna is a special invitee .
