Counters set up for men, women at Swaraj Maidan

In demand: People stand in long queues to buy onions at ₹25 a kg at a Rythu Bazaar in Vijayawada on Thursday.

Following the increase in the prices of the onion owing to heavy rain in Maharashtra, Krishna District Collector A.Md. Imtiaz has set up exclusive counters to sell onions at the Swaraj Maidan Rythu Bazaar in the city.

The Collector, in the presence of the Marketing Department officials, set up the exclusive counters wherein onions will be sold at subsidised price of ₹25 per kg, as opposed to the current rate which has crossed the ₹50-mark.

He said 112 quintals of onions brought by authorities from Kurnool would be distributed among all the Rythu Bazaars in the district.
