On a retro walk mission

A 69-year old Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Kolluri Naidamma has set on a ‘retro walk’ mission as a thanksgiving to almighty for blessing N. Chandrababu Naidu with the Chief Minister’s. post.

Mr. Naidamma, a native of Inkollu village in Prakasam district, began his walking backward padayatra at Annavaram on August 21. The TDP cadres offered him a traditional welcome when he reached the city on Tuesday.

On the occasion, Mr. Naidamma said that he was walking 25 to 30 km a day. About 800 km distance would have to be covered before reaching the destination Tirumala. It was estimated that the padayatra would cost Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 6 lakh.

TDP Inkollu unit was footing the bill, he said adding that it was a 40-day padayatra.

Mr. Naidamma said that he never walked such a distance in his lifetime prior to this. “During 2014 elections, I prayed to the God I will walk backward if Mr. Chandrababu Naidu came to power. The almighty had answered my prayers,” he said.

His wife Anjana Devi and nephew Kota Vinod, a final year B.Tech student, are accompanying him.
