While most people chose to greet mothers on this special day by showering gifts on them or by posting an e-Card that spoke about their innermost thoughts on their mother, members of the city-based Vayovruddha Charitable Trust, preferred the most valuable way to celebrate the occasion.
Chairman Challa Harikumar, along with members of the organising committee Muttavarapu Muralikrishna, and T. Arjuna Rao, has been organising this annual event for the last several years.

Grocery items
“This is the 74 month that we are distributing grocery items like fine quality rice (5 kg), dal (1 kg), edible oil (1/2 kg), tamarind (1/4 kg) and medicines to 120 senior citizens above 70 years of age. The beneficiaries are identified from the poorest of the poor sections,” said Mr. Harikumar.
Abuzz with activity
The Vijaya School of Nursing opposite Modern Super Bazar on Madhura Nagar Road near Alluri Sitaramaraju bridge at Durgapuram, was abuzz with activity on Sunday. Mahila Sessions Judge, Vijayawada, V.V. Nirmala Geethamba was the chief guest on the occasion while president of Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education, Vijayawada and Viswanatha Satyanarana were special guests.
