The two Telugu contestants, who were in fray in the 2016 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, received a thorough drubbing contesting from Mylapore and R.K. Puram constituencies. However, the only solace was Andhra Loyola College alumnus and son of popular mimicry artiste Chandu, V. Vijayakrishna, who scored a hundred (107 votes). He fought against the ultimate winner R. Nataraj of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam at Mylapore. He was heavily banking on the Telugu voters. Senior Telugu native Kethureddy Jagadeeshwara Reddy, who took on the Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa at R.K. Puram constituency, was able to garner only 57 votes. Mr. Reddy, who came to Vijayawada before launching his campaign, had 14 contestants getting less than his tally.
