NCLP squad raids shops; 10 boys rescued

Cases were booked against the establishment owners under AP Shops and Establishments Act of 1988 and also under AP Minimum Wages Act.

Krishna NCLP Project director D. Anjaneya Reddy and other officials collecting details from a boy who was found begging in Nandigama town in Krishna district on Tuesday.

Officials of the National Child Labour Project (NCLP), Labour department along with some voluntary organisations raided shops and mechanic sheds in Nandigama and Kanchikacherla towns in the district on Thursday.

Special drive

As part of the special drive being taken up against child labour, the anti-child labour squad headed by NCLP Project Director D. Anjaneya Reddy, conducted raids and rescued ten boys employed in mechanic sheds and other establishments.

Based on the information provided by NGO representatives P. Lakshmi and Sangameswara Rao, Jaggaiahpet Assistant Labour Officer (ALO) K.V.V. Satyanarayana and Vijayawada ALO P. Lakshmi Narayana conducted the raids with the PD.

Cases were booked against the establishment owners under AP Shops and Establishments Act of 1988 and also under AP Minimum Wages Act, said Mr. Anjaneya Reddy.

Instructions were given to the shop and shed owners to admit the children in schools and submit the documents immediately, the PD added.
