Muppalla named CPI State assistant secretary

Party to hold State committee meeting on June 7 at Vijayawada

Communist Party of India (CPI) Guntur district secretary Muppalla Nageswara Rao has been appointed the party’s Andhra Pradesh State assistant secretary.

Party leader J.V. Krishna Rao, city unit secretary J. Ajay Kumar, AITUC Guntur district president K. Malyadri and AISF district general secretary A. Ayya Swamy felicitated Mr. Nageswara Rao at Mallaiah Lingam Bhavan, the district office of the CPI, in the city on Sunday.

Mr. Rao said the CPI would extend support to the new government in setting up industries, educational institutions, taking back land allotted to Vanpic Company and developing coastal areas in the residuary State.

Party leaders will discuss issues, including strengthening of the CPI in AP, at the CPI State committee meeting scheduled to be held at Vijayawada on June7, Mr. Rao said.

He also asked the TDP to complete the Pulichintala and Polavaram projects at the earliest and waive loans for DWCRA groups and farmers.

“The CPI is demanding an increase in old-age and widow pensions to Rs. 1,000 and pensions for the disabled to Rs. 1,500 in AP,” he added.
