Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said that there are more challenges for police in the coming days in constructing the new capital for Andhra Pradesh.
Similarly, there are more opportunities in residuary State as the government is planning to fill vacancies in big numbers, he said while addressing the police personnel at the Police Commemoration Parade at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium here on Wednesday.
Mr. Naidu, along with Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa, Director General of Police (DGP) J. V. Ramudu, City Police Commissioner D. Gautam Sawang and other officers placed wreaths at police martyrs pylon and paid homage to the policemen who laid down their lives while discharging their duties. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said in any State development was possible only when law and order was under control. Many industries, ports and corporate giants were planning to invest in the State due to conducive atmosphere created by the police and people, he said. “Government is planning to construct DGP’s Office, training centre, transport, parade ground and other facilities for police in AP,” Mr. Naidu said and appealed to the police officers to help the poor and weaker sections in the society.

Stating that government is extending welfare schemes to the police personnel, their families and children, the Chief Minister announced Rs. 15 crore to the Police Welfare Fund. He thanked the police for relentlessly making efforts to maintain peace and praised the family members for cooperating the family heads at all times. “Army and police are known for sacrifice their lives in fighting with enemies. This year, 14 policemen were killed in different operations in AP,” said the Chief Minister and donated Rs. 20,000 towards the Flag Fund.
