Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas discussed the modalities of the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) with NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) Vice-Chancellor Dr. T. Ravi Raju and representatives of the Andhra Pradesh Private Medical and Dental Colleges Managements’ Association at NTRUHS here on Thursday.
Mr. Srinivas said the Central Government’s ordinance made NEET compulsory for obtaining admission to private medical colleges, including NRI quota, from this year itself while seats under the convener quota were kept out of NEET’s purview.
“The exemption (from NEET) is limited to undergraduate courses of State government institutions. Admission to postgraduate courses and all courses in private medical and dental colleges will still be under NEET,” he clarified.

About syllabus, Mr. Srinivas said that the government was in the process of constituting an expert committee to make changes that suit the NEET, which would be based on the CBSE curriculum.
