A team of singers and mimicry artistes headed by noted music director and singer ‘Vandemataram’ Srinivas enthralled the public on the second day of the ‘Kakinada Beach Festival’ here on Wednesday.
Along with Mr. Srinivas, singers Sunitha, Usha, M.M. Srilekha, Geetha Madhuri, Sravana Bhargavi, Hemachandra, Simha and Srikrishna and mimicry artiste Bhaviri Ravi entertained the audience with songs and skits. The show was a blend of melodies and peppy numbers by the singers, who had won the hearts of the public through various television shows and film playback singing. All the singers chose the numbers that suited the occasion and the public mood, besides singing the ones that earned them name and fame. Some of them left the stage while singing and went straight into the gallery, where the public competed with one another to take selfies with them. Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Home Minister N. Chinna Rajappa and other leaders turned up for the second day as well. Even as the officials wanted them to share their views on the festival, none of them evinced interest to speak. They presented prizes to the winners of the Beach Volleyball tournaments and left the stage for the artistes. Earlier in the day, Collector Kartikeya Misra conducted a review meeting with the officials of various departments to review the feedback of the day one event and the steps to be taken to ensure the smooth conduct of the entire festival. The Vij Craft firm that conducted competitions to the budding singers has come out with the list of winners, who would be given a chance to sing during A.R. Rahman’s concert scheduled for Thursday. Local artistes and students presented their talent in songs and dancing, mimicry and magic during the day.
