The State-sponsored Mana Ooru Mana Badi programme scheduled to start from Monday (April 23) aims at strengthening the school education system, said Human Resource Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Minister said besides enrolling ‘out of school’ children in schools, the objective of this week-long drive was also to educate the parents about the series of measures initiated by the government to ensure quality teaching and improve infrastructure in the State-run schools.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said officials of the Education Department should widely publicise the fact that the government schools would offer English medium from the first class itself, on the lines of private schools from this academic year.

People should realise the fact that government schools have qualified, experienced and committed teaching staff.

Free textbooks, free school uniforms and free food under mid-day-meal programme are other benefits besides facilities like labs, libraries and digital classrooms.
