Students should inculcate the habit of book reading and spend more time in libraries. One should not confine to academic curriculum and try to read as many books to gain knowledge and learn different aspects, said Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad here on Sunday.
Addressing at the 125 birth anniversary celebrations of Iyyanki Venkata Ramanayya, Mr. Prasad said it was the foundation laid by Mr.Ramanayya by launching the library movement that helped many Telugu people to excel in different fields.
An appeal would be made to the State government to organise year-long celebrations at all libraries in remembrance of Mr. Ramanayya.

In addition, the long-pending demand to install a bronze statue of Mr. Ramanayya in the city would be fulfilled very shortly, he declared.
He also presented awards and certificates to students, who excelled in the essay writing and elocution competitions organised by Saraswati Samrajyam in connection with the 125 birth anniversary celebrations of Mr. Ramanayya.
Meanwhile, Krishna District Writers’ Association felicitated Mr. Prasad at IV Palace in the city and noted film actor and writer Tanikela Bharani and others participated in the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prasad said though the State was divided geographically, Telugu speaking people should stay united.
