The LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) organised a rally on service road abutting National Highway NH-5 to create awareness on glaucoma among the people, here on Saturday.

On the occasion, the LVPEI doctors B. Pradeep, Arpita and others said that the glaucoma was one of the major causes of blindness in the country. About 12 crore people in the country were suffering from glaucoma. The glaucoma could lead to blindness. It could be avoided by early detection and proper management. A person who crossed the age of 40 years should go for glaucoma test. An early diagnosis was best as the vision once lost due to glaucoma cannot be restored, they said.

The LVPEI was organising free glaucoma screening from March 12 to 17. The Institute would provide free medicine to first three winners in the dip.
