Land hunt for the capital region within VGTM UDA has begun with the Guntur district administration identifying 21,596 acres of vacant government land around the proposed Outer Ring Road (ORR) to be developed by VGTM UDA.
Apart for building the proposed capital region, the land is likely to be used for housing various government institutions, colleges, universities and hospitals turning the district into a prominent logistics hub in Andhra Pradesh.
The State Government is likely to acquire farm land for meeting needs of establishing key institutions like Assembly, Secretariat and High Court etc. The district administration made a survey of revenue records and concluded that 21,595. 96 acres of land was available within 14 mandals in the extended VGTM UDA region.

“The Revenue and Planning departments will undertake field surveys and fix the boundaries. Every effort will be made to protect government lands from encroachment,” Joint Collector Vivek Yadav told
An ORR would be the corridor around the VGTM UDA region and is likely to start from Gannavaram in Krishna District down to Tenali in Guntur district and then extending till Edlapadu, Sattenapalli, Amaravathi and Tadikonda. The ORR would provide road connectivity to the proposed capital region to National Highway.
The extended VGTM UDA region covering 7,068 sq. km includes Guntur, Tenali, Mangalagiri, Ponnur and Sattenapalli municipalities. The UDA also includes 208 villages in Guntur district in its limits. Identification of boundaries of VGTM UDA region was taken up during the tenure of GSRKR Vijaya Kumar, the then Vice Chairman of VGTM UDA.

Apart from identifying various types of land including assigned, poramboke, wakf and forest lands in Guntur, Tenali and Mangalagiri- the three major towns in UDA limits, the district administration has also made a comprehensive survey of 10 mandals, some outside the UDA limits in view of future requirements.
Survey of land was taken up in Amaravathi, Medikonduru, Mangalagiri, Prathipadu, Pedakakani, Pedakurapadu, Sattenapalli, Phirangipuram, Tadepalli, Thullur, Tadikonda, Vatticherukuru and Edlapadu.
Tadikonda mandal has the largest area of land with 3,429.86 acres, followed by Tadepalli 2,722.74 acres and Guntur, 2,543.46 acres. A vast stretch of useful forest land to an extent of 1,486 acres is available at Tadepalli.
Guntur has got 692.84 acres of government land 681.92 acres of assigned land and is likely to be hub of various government institutions of state and national importance.
