Kanchi seer consecrates Radhakrishna temple

The seer began the process of Kumbhabhisekam by performing rituals and touched each of the material that went into the ritual.

Amidst reverberating Vedic chants by priests and melodious sounds of the nadaswaram, kumbhabhishekam was performed at Radhakrishna temple constructed at Labbipet here on Saturday.

The ceremony, at Labbipet Venkateswara Swamy temple complex, took place under the guidance of Kanchi seer Sri Jayendra Saraswati. The seer began the process of Kumbhabhisekam by performing rituals and touched each of the material that went into the ritual.

Tens of devotees gathered to witness the kumbhabhishekam, consecration of the temple sikharam. The priests poured holy water on the ‘sikharam’ and performed ‘pooja’ to it.

The seer supervised installation of Radhakrishna idol, made of black granite, in the temple. The devotees witnessed the holy event and offered prayers to the idols. On this occasion, special pujas were performed on the temple premises.

The Kanchi seer called on the people to be proud of their culture and legacy and to be compassionate to the sensitivities of others.

Later, he distributed prasadam to the devotees. The seer was supposed to be in the city till evening but owing to sudden illness he flew back to Chennai in a special flight immediately after consecration.

Temple chairman Maganti Subrahmanyam said that the temple was constructed with a cost of about Rs. 8 lakh. The idol was the first of its kind in the city.

Narsapuram MP Gokaraju Gangaraju, Temple trust members S. Prabhakar Rao and Maganti Sitaramaiah were present.
