City’s sports fraternity gave a warm welcome J.B.N.V. Abhishek, a Class XI student of Nalanda Vidya Niketan, who represented Team India in the World Cup lnline Hockey Championship in Argentina from June 13 to 24.
A product of the city skating circuit, Abhishek, along with four students from Nalanda, took part in the selection trials held at Faridabad in Haryana early January and was selected to represent the country in the prestigious World Cup event.
“He also underwent a month-long coaching camp in Haryana before he took off for the tourney,” said school correspondent Atluti Vijay Babu on Monday.

Abhishek, as a skater representing Krishna and Andhra Pradesh, bagged several medals in the State and National level shaking championships.
Krishna District Roller Skating Association secretary Durra Prasad that Inline hockey was also known as roller hockey.

“It is a team sport played on a wood, asphalt, cement or sport tile surface, in which players use a hockey stick with a hard plastic puck into their opponent’s goal to score points.” Nalanda Primary School headmistress M. Padmaja, Abhishek’s parents, students and staff took part in the felicitation held at the school premises.
