‘Jalambadi' contests evoke good response

Essay writing and drawing competitions were held to students as part of the ‘Jalambadi', a programme organised to promote water conservation and management among schoolchildren by Groundwater Water Resources and District Educational Department at Nalanda Vidya Niketan here on Monday.

As many as 542 students studying Class VIII, IX, and X in 45 private English and Telugu medium schools took part in the essay writing competition on water preservation and management.

“We also conducted drawing competition in which 470 students took part on the same theme. Earlier we conducted for all municipal school students,” said Groundwater Department deputy director A. Vara Prasad.

He said a quiz programme will be held at Nalanda Vidya Niketan on November 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in which 80 teams from different schools have already enrolled their names. “From each school two five-member teams can participate in the competition and screening test will be held at 9 a.m. Six teams will qualify for final round and the lecturers from Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala will act as the quiz masters.
