Jagaddeswra Rao is new BBA president

He defeated his nearest rival P. Mohan Rao by a margin of 390 votes. The two secured 835 and 445 votes respectively.

The Bezawada Bar Association (BBA) on Tuesday elected its Governing Body for 2015-16. Of the 1,987 eligible members, 1,561 cast their votes. The results were declared in the night. The BBA has about 3,250 members, but only 1,987 were eligible to vote having paid their subscriptions fully.

A keen contest was witnessed for the post of president and Ch. S.V. Jagadeeswara Rao was elected. He defeated his nearest rival P. Mohan Rao by a margin of 390 votes. The two secured 835 and 445 votes respectively.

Mr. Jagadeeswara Rao is a student of Siddhartha Law College. He became a member of the Andhra Pradesh Bar Council (APBC) in 1992 and practiced under the guidance of senior advocate Karnati Rammohan Rao.

B. Jayamma was elected the first woman General Secretary of the association with 852 votes. She defeated P.S.V. Prasada Rao by a margin of 448 votes. She is also a product of Siddhartha Law College and had been member of APBC since 2006.

K. Jagajeevana Rao was elected Vice-President with a narrow difference of 161 votes. K. Koteswara Rao, K. Mahalakshmi and Y. Pulla Reddy were elected as Joint Secretary, Lady Secretary and Sports and Cultural Secretary respectively. A. Madhu Babu and G.V. Subba Rao were elected unanimously as Treasurer and Librarian.
