JAC calls for 48-hour bandh in Krishna district

Chairman of the Krishna district Samaikyandhra JAC (Non-Political) A.V. Sagar has said that bandh will be observed for 48 hours from midnight of September 10 to midnight of September 12.

Private institutions, transport vehicles, bank, Central government offices such as LIC will not be allowed to function.

Samaikyandhra activists would take out rallies and enforce the bandh, Mr. Sagar said. This was being done to intensify the agitation, he said at a press conference here on Thursday.

He said the steering committee decided to conduct gram sabha in all the 900-odd panchayats in the district on September 14, where resolutions asking the Central government not to divide Andhra Pradesh would be passed. Village secretaries would conduct the proceedings. A copy of the resolution would be sent to the JAC. The original would be sent to President Pranab Mukherjee.

As per the plan of action chalked out by the steering committee, the activists would affix ‘Stop Bifurcation/ Save Andhra Pradesh’ stickers on trains that pass through Vijayawada railway station. On September 13, ‘mahila garjana’ would be conducted. The activists would celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi by arranging clay Samaikya Ganesha idols on September 9.
