Irrigation land: Congress joins issue with TDP

November 18, 2011 11:38 am | Updated 11:38 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Blaming the Telugu Desam Party leaders for the irrigation land controversy, several Congress MLAs said the opposition leaders should stop politicisation of every issue and allow developmental activities to continue without any hindrance. They asserted that there was no attempt to hurt any irrigation official in this respect.

Congress MLAs Malladi Vishnu, Velampalli Srinivas, and Jogi Ramesh criticised TDP district president and Mylavaram MLA Devineni Umamaheswara Rao for trying to create a bad name for the Congress leadership by creating a controversy where there was no problem at all. They deplored that irrigation official Ramesh Babu joined hands with the TDP leader and created problems in various issues.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the Congress MLAs asserted that there was no need for dragging the name of Minister for Secondary Education K. Parthasarathy into every controversy and it would be better for the TDP leaders to maintain some decorum. They said their party would not keep silent if Mr. Umamaheswara Rao continued tarnishing the image of the Minister or any leader of their party.
