Rotary Red Cross Blood Bank Chief Medical Officer Madan Mohan said that many lives could be saved if students were made to realise the importance of blood donation.

Speaking about thalassemia, a blood disorder passed down through inheritance in which the body makes an abnormal form of haemoglobin, he said that the disorder resulted in excessive destruction of red blood cells, which leads to anaemia.

Informing that the blood bank would organise a mega blood donation camp on July 25 (Wednesday), he urged students to take an active part in it and make it a success.
