Municipal Commissioner C. Hari Kiran on Wednesday expressed displeasure over heaps of garbage piled up in residential and commercial areas in the city and asked the officials concerned to levy fine on owners of the houses and shops if they were found guilty on this count.

As part of his regular visits, he went around Narasimha Naidu Street, Chalasani Venkatakrishnaiah Street, Govindarajulu Naidu Street, Kovelamudivari Street, Dasarivari Street and Prakasam Road areas.

Pointing to heaps of garbage on roads in commercial areas, he said some shops were leaving the garbage generated by them on the road. He said same was the case in some of the residential areas. This said that this was the state of affairs, despite the fact that the VMC vehicles were going door-to-door to collect garbage every day.

He wanted the officials to identify the owners and shops and impose penalty on them. Reacting to the stagnated rain water on Prakasam Road, he asked the officials to clear the water and do the needful to avoid recurrence of such situation.
