After participating in strike for about 60 days for ‘Samaikyandhra’, employees of the APSRTC resumed duties, and the buses came on to the roads on Saturday. All the bus stations in the district, which wore a desert look for the last few days, are seen filled with passengers since morning. People heaved a sigh of relief as the employees called off their agitation before Dasara and Bakrid festivals.
Heavy rush was seen on the platforms and at the reservation counters in Guntur, Narasaraopet, Tenali, Bapatla, Vinukonda, Chilakaluripet, Macherla and other towns. APSRTC Gutur Regional Manager (RM) P.V. Rama Rao said the Corporation was running 1,200 buses from different depots in Guntur district to various destinations across the State, and almost all the staff reported for duties.
“With the union leaders called off the strike, we restored services from Saturday morning. Guntur region has about 487 routes and we are operating buses in all routes,” said the RM.

Regarding reservation bookings, counters were opened in all the bus stations and passengers are requested to book their tickets at the counters and franchises or through online.
Mr. Rama Rao said the RTC was ready to provide the required number of services in emergency for evacuating people and for transporting food, medicines and other essentials to the cyclone-hit mandals.
