The Special Investigation Teams (SITs), constituted by City Police Commissioner to solve major crimes, are giving good results.
With the spurt in crime rate in the city for the last few days, Commissioner of Police N. Madhusudhan Reddy instructed the police to form SITs under Suryaraopet, Machavaram, Patamata, Gannavaram, and other station limits to detect major cases.
Miscreants committed three murders and an equal number of thefts including robbery in a jewellery shop in the city in the last two months. Police are clueless about two murder cases and the jewellery shop theft cases.

The SITs solved one murder case and two theft cases under Machavaram and Gannavaram in the city.

The CI of the concerned police station heads the SIT and the inspector selects constables of his choice who were experts in detecting various crimes. The team can work exclusively on detecting a particular case.
The Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) of the concerned zone were asked to monitor the investigation of general cases and routine duties in the police stations as the special teams are working on major cases, said the CP.
The special teams detected the murder of Koduru Seetaratnam (80) who was murdered for gain under Suryaraopet police station limits and arrested two persons in the case.
Likewise, the SITs of Machavaram and Gannavaram police detected two theft cases and arrested the accused.
Special teams are still working on bank officer M. Saraswathi's murder case occurred at Pipula Road and the killing of V. Chandramma at Pandaripuram in the city, said Mr. Madhusudhan Reddy.
The Governorpet police who are investigating the theft in Sulochana Jewellers case said the sniffer dog squad which visited the spot did not give any clue.
The investigating officers suspect the role of some internal persons in the robbery, said an officer.
