Women Development and Child Welfare Commissioner Chiranjeevi Chowdary stressed on the need for coordination among various government departments for effectively implementing the welfare schemes, being sponsored by the State and Central Governments for the poor children.
Mr. Chowdary along with Directors Shyama Sundari and Vijaya Lakshmi reviewed on the protein food being supplied in Anganwadi Centres, functioning of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and eradication of child labour.
Regional Joint Directors from Eluru, Warangal and Ongole and Project Directors (PDs) of Guntur, Prakasham, West Godavari, Krishna and Khammam districts attended the meeting held here on Tuesday. The Commissioner asked the RJDs and PDs to focus on slums in each district, identify the out of school fold and dropout children, child labour and those who are suffering with mal nutrition.

He appealed to the Women Development and Child Welfare officers to coordinate with National Child Labour Project (NCLP), Labour, Revenue and Police departments and strive for eradication of child labour. The ICDS project officers, supervisors and the Anganwadi Workers should explain the lactating mothers on the need to provide mother’s milk and protein for the children, so that they can grow healthily.
