Ensure adequate security in private hostels, says CP

Police Commissioner N. Madhusudhan Reddy has directed police personnel to check whether the security measures in private hostels are adequate or not.

Personnel of the police, the Women Development and Child Welfare, and the Revenue departments should visit the children’s rehabilitation homes and working women’s hostels to ensure that the managements provided adequate security for the inmates.

Speaking at the crime review meeting here on Saturday, he instructed the police to intensify patrolling at schools, colleges, and hostels to prevent the movement of stalkers and eve-teasers.

To regulate traffic, additional staff had been sourced from the City Armed Reserve (CAR). Necessary training would be given for the CAR personnel and the promoted Armed Reserved SIs in maintaining traffic.

The traffic police should prevent triple riding and book cases against those who ride bikes with three persons. Two heavy duty traffic cranes would be arranged at Ashok Pillar and Ramavarappadu to clear vehicles that break down on the highway.

In all, 26 persons died in road accidents in the city in December (last month) in 147 accidents. Police booked as many as 16,546 cases against traffic violators during the same period, the Commissioner said.
