The city police probing the illegal appointments in Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Devasthanam are planning to question the management on the irregularities.
One Town Circle Inspector D. Kasi Viswanath on Tuesday questioned temple Executive Engineer (EE) D. Bhaskar who said the matter was taken to the notice of Executive Officer A. Surya Kumari in January but no action had been taken.
“The EO has neither ordered departmental enquiry nor initiated any action against the accused,” he told the police.

In April, Chaitanya and Sandeep were appointed as computer operator and electrician in the devasthanam on temporary basis. Then EE Koteswara Rao and Camp Clerk (CC) to EO Venu conducted interviews and reportedly collected ₹3 lakh from Chaitanya and ₹2.5 lakh from Sandeep promising them permanent jobs but failed to do so.
“The victims approached the accused through Veeraswamy, a conductor in the devasthanam bus, and engineer Vara Prasad was arrested. Vara Prasad reportedly forged the signatures of the officials and managed to get work allotted to a contractor which is also under investigation,” said Mr. Viswanath.
On May 4, we registered two cases. The police were also probing whether illegal appointments were made earlier. More arrests would be made soon, the CI added.
