Officials of various State and Central government departments will participate in anti-child labour drive from June 12 to 20 in Krishna district in connection with the ‘World Anti-Child Labour Day'.
As part of the World Anti-Child Labour Day on June 12, students from various educational institutions, trade union leaders, employees' association members, building construction workers' union members, NGOs, women organisations and officials of National Child Labour Project (NCLP), Labour Department, Women Development and Child Welfare, Revenue and other departments will participate in a rally on Tuesday.
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR)'s theme this year is: ‘justice for children – end child labour'.

Students would form a human chain at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium, take an oath against child labour and participate in the signature campaign. During the special drive, the officials would visit child labour production zones, conduct raids on shops and establishments and create awareness against engaging children in works, said NCLP Project Director D. Anjaneya Reddy.
The officials rescued 545 children working in non-hazardous conditions, and booked equal number of cases in the last one-and-a-half years in the district.
The authorities booked cases under AP Shops and Establishments Act of 1988, and filed 507 claims for Rs.9.89 lakh.

Nine children were rescued in hazardous cases and registered cases against the owners under Child Labour Prohibition and Regulation Act of 1986.
Cases have been filed in the court under Section 3 of the Child Labour Act, said Mr. Reddy.
The NCLP Project Director said that domestic child labour problem was rampant in the district and they were taking help of some voluntary organisations in rescuing them.
Under, Right to Education Act of 2009, no child should be out of school and the officials should implement compulsory education for children below 14 years.
The NCLP, with the cooperation of other departments, was making efforts for strict implementation of Right to Education Act, said Mr. Anjaneya Reddy.
