The Delhi Public School (DPS) organised Indian Folk Dance Festival-2011 in a grand manner here on Saturday. The DPS management said that they organised the festival with a view to promote folk dance forms as more and more people were being attracted to western culture and dances.
The dais gained life in the form of musical beats and rhythmic movements of the students as the festival began. The festival was a potential platform for the students, and was a right opportunity for the budding artists. And, the festival proved to be a true cultural feast.
The DPS showed a short film on life and achievements of veteran Kuchipudi dancer Sobha Rani, who participated as honorary guest. Later, school management felicitated her. On the occasion, she said that it was indeed laudable to organise such festivals to promote folk dances. To honour all folk dance forms across the nation was praiseworthy, she said.

Learning folk arts would help in personality development, relieving stress. The folk arts jubilate also.
However, the students should accord top priority to education, and learn the folk arts, she said.
APSRTC Vijayawada Zone Executive Director M. F. Hussain Surya Prakash, PHR Invent Education Society chairman Parimi Hanumantha Rao, DPS Vice Chairman P. Narendra Babu, Director Praveen, Dean Gayatri, Vice Principal Sankaralingam and others were present.
