Doctors perform delicate surgery

Doctors at Sentini Hospitals have performed a critical surgery for removal of stent fragments on a patient D. Hussain and saved his life.

The patient suffered with right ureteric stent fragments and stone formation in bladder and a kidney, said hospital Managing Director Padma Movva.

This condition usually leads to mortality in 75 per cent cases.

Giving details of the case at a press conference here on Tuesday, Dr. Padma said Hussain underwent right URSL and DJ stenting three years ago in a private hospital. Later, he forgot to get the stent removed.

Urologist P. Vedamurthy Reddy said the patient was admitted in Sentini Hospitals on August 31 after he complained of pain in the abdomen along with high fever and nausea.

During investigations, it was found that Hussain was suffering with multiple right renal calculi and urinary bladder calculi besides formation of stones around the stent fragments.

The doctors performed endoscopic surgery procedure in two stages and removed the stent fragments and stones in the kidney and bladder, said Dr. Reddy.

“We performed two-stage surgery to avoid post-operative complications as the patient was admitted in a critical state.

The hospital gave concession in bills as the family is poor. Mr. Hussain is hale and hearty now and medically fit,” said Dr. Padma.

The patient’s family members thanked the doctors.
