Dealers who established their main office in the residuary Andhra Pradesh and have branches in Telangana region can apply online for two separate Tax Payer’s Identification Numbers (TINs), said Commissioner of Commercial Taxes Heeralal Samariya here on Thursday.
In an interactive session conducted by the FAPCCI here on Thursday, Mr. Samariya said the dealers need not approach any officer and could simply apply online for a TIN, which would be sent to them by email within a couple of days. The physical registration certificate would also be despatched by post after June 2, when the two States officially come into existence. If a dealer based in this region had either the head office or a branch in Telangana, he could apply for a TIN online, he clarified.
Only the initial two digits would change in the existing identification number for creating a new one. The current TIN series which begins with the digits 28 would change to 36 for dealers of Telangana and to 37 for dealers of the residual Andhra Pradesh.

The dealers’ fraternity would be categorised into the ones with TIN only for residual Andhra, those with a TIN only for Telangana and a third group of those with an identification number for both the states.
The new given identification number would become the User ID to login to one’s account, he said, informing that it would become operational from June 2. The old TINs and the data associated with them would be kept for some time but the dealers would not be able to access it.

A registration form for Central Sales Tax would be generated automatically and a special interface for entering commodities’ list would be created.
Mr. Samariya, along with Ashutosh Mishra, former IAS officer and Consultant (Revenue) to the State government, has been interacting with representatives of trade and industry to clarify bifurcation-related doubts.
Responding to the traders’ doubts on adjustment of input tax credits after bifurcation, the officers asked them to approach the officer of their respective circles as the accounts would be settled at the government level.
