CT Division–II crosses Rs. 1,000 crore mark

The Commercial Taxes (CT) Vijayawada Division-II revenue has crossed Rs.1,000-crore mark in revenue collection during 2012-13 fiscal. There is a sluggish growth compared to previous years, but the CT officials have succeeded in realising Rs.1,006 crore.

The department collected Rs.999 crore during last fiscal (2011-12). A steady growth was recorded in the Division-II since 2008-09 fiscal.

The revenue collection was Rs.652 crore in 2008-09 and touched Rs.683 crore in the subsequent financial year. In 2010-11, the revenue collections stood at Rs. 853 crore.

The Benz Circle topped among the eight circles of the division with a revenue collection of Rs. 113 crore, while it was just Rs.76 crore during last financial year.

A major chunk of tax collection is from the Large Tax Payers Unit (LTU), which accounted for Rs.559 crore. The Autonagar Circle collected Rs.72 crore as against previous year’s Rs.59 crore, according to Deputy Commissioner (DC) M. Rambabu. The Division-II officials have laid emphasis on the audits, physical verification of records to ensure the tax collection goes in the right direction. As many as 880 audits, including both general and special, were conducted during 2012-13, he said.

The Department has improved the tax collection on all heads during the 2012-13 financial year.
