Translations enrich languages with new ideas and words. The history of Telugu language began with translation of the Mahabharata by Nannaya. Translation itself is a literary process, former Minister Mandali Buddha Prasad has said.
Delivering the keynote address at the national seminar on Telugu translation at Montessori Mahila Kalasala here on Friday, Mr. Buddha Prasad said words borrowed from other languages often get absorbed adding to the vocabulary.
However, an effort should be made to create new words for the foreign words in our own language. Tamil Nadu was ahead in this exercise with experts creating new words for foreign ones.
